Integrated Mechanical part 3

The Integrated Mechanical projects upgrade, modernize, and in some cases replace the mechanical air handling systems at C. D. Howe, as well as related heating and cooling systems such as perimeter radiators. These systems provide the fresh air, heating and cooling required ensuring thermal comfort throughout the building. The systems consist of numerous air supply fans, exhaust fans, and heating and cooling piping located in mechanical rooms on the roof, in the basements, and on each of the office and commercial levels.

Phase 3 of this project is now underway, modernizing and adding to the air handling, exhaust, heating and cooling systems located on the Commercial levels. The systems date from the original building construction in 1977, and are benefitting from a thorough overhaul of all key components. The new systems will be controlled through the new EMCS Direct Digital Controls, allowing building operators better control over thermal comfort. Energy saving measures are also being introduced in order to reduce building operating costs and contribute towards a more sustainable future.
