Energy Monitoring Control System (using Direct Digital Control) This project updates the building controls used to manage temperature, fresh air, lighting and related systems throughout C. D. Howe. The original systems work with pneumatic controls, using compressed air running though a network of tubes connecting all of the HVAC system components together throughout the building. The new system now under installation uses Direct Digital Controls, consisting of electronic controls managed by a central computer with all components connected by data and fibre optic cables. The DDC controls manage both HVAC and lighting systems. Once completed, the project will provide enhanced control over temperature, fresh air and lighting systems. Benefits include improved thermal comfort to office and common building areas, greater control over lighting systems, and the ability to manage temperature and lighting for smaller zones. The project will also significantly reduce energy consumption and lower the overall costs of operating the building. Main Page |
